The Real World Tony Stark

Considers himself as a futurist, he is an inventor, engineer, investor, philanthropist and a business magnate. Yes, you guessed it right. Elon Musk is the man we are talking about. Where do I start with this guy? He is the founder, CEO, and lead designer of SpaceX; co-founder, CEO, and product architect of Tesla Inc.; co-chairman of Open AI; founder and CEO of Neuralink, and founder of The Boring Company. He is also a co-founder and former chairman of Solar City, co-founder of Zip2, and founder of X.com, which merged with Confinity and took the name PayPal.

The Man Himself- Elon Musk

Well, not much? He is also the man behind the high-speed transportation system Hyperloop and the VTOL(Vertical Take- Off and Landing) supersonic jet aircraft with electric fan propulsion also known as Musk electric jet.

Elon Musk is the one for the future. According to him, his goals are to change the world and humanity. It includes reducing global warming by the use of more sustainable energy production & consumption and reducing the risk of “Human Extinction” by establishing a human colony on Mars. Let us see three of his most famous endeavors:

TESLA

Well, at the time of writing this article, I just got to know that a TESLA was launched into space, making it the first car in space (excluding rovers and space buggies). So why is Tesla famous?
It is the fastest electric car from now on which can reach speeds of 60 mph within 2.5 seconds. Also, for a 30 min charge, you can go 170 miles or 274 km. The charging costs are about one-sixth of which you spend on petrol. The factory which produces the batteries is the second largest in the world but has only 6500 employees. And only 4 parts need regular replacements-the four wheels and two wiper blades. The cheapest Tesla car, the model 3 cost around 50 thousand dollars. And the waiting time is mind-boggling! For someone who has ordered the model X way back in 2015 March, he/she will be getting his car this March, yeah March 2018.

But anyone out there who wants to buy the car, don’t worry. Tesla is planning to increase its production by two times. So you will be getting the car in 18 months!!!

SpaceX

It is the first private space organization to launch rockets and also recover them, first to reuse an orbital rocket, a first private vehicle to dock with ISS and what not.

The company was founded in 2002 by Elon Musk to fulfill his space ambition. It launched its first rocket with liquid fuel in 2008(Falcon 1). It sent its first mission to ISS in 2012(Dragon). They have a cargo supply contract with NASA for ISS. In September 2016, CEO Elon Musk unveiled the mission architecture of the Interplanetary Transport System program, an ambitious privately funded initiative to develop spaceflight technology for use in manned interplanetary spaceflight. In 2017, Elon Musk announced that the company had been contracted by two private individuals to send them in a Dragon spacecraft on a free return trajectory around the Moon. Provisionally launching in 2018, this could become the first instance of lunar tourism. Tesla is planning to increase its production by two times. So you will be getting the car in 18 months!

Hyperloop

This is his most ambitious project. More ambitious than SpaceX? Yes, it is. So, what is Hyperloop? A Hyperloop is a proposed mode of passenger and/or freight transportation, first used to describe an open-source vactrain design. Elon Musk’s version of the concept, first publicly mentioned in 2012, incorporates reduced-pressure tubes in which pressurized capsules ride on air bearings driven by linear induction motors and air compressors.

It has a theoretical highest speed of 760 mph (1223.1 km) compared to 150 mph (241.4 km) of a typical high-speed train. So, you can see why the word ‘Hyper’ is used. Moreover, it is an open-sourced technology, meaning the idea is given and others are given a chance to develop it. The ‘train’ runs on sunlight, i.e. solar powered and literally travels on a cushion of air.
At its speed, it can cover the distance between the west and east coast of USA within 35 minutes. No doubt it is the next big thing in the future of transportation! And several countries are interested in building Hyperloop including India. A MoU was signed between the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Hyperloop Transportation Technologies to construct the first Hyperloop of India between its capital Amravati and Vijayawada. And the journey is supposed to take just 6 minutes.

These three are some of his ideas, projects, inventions etc. whatever you call them. But it is not the end of Elon Musk, who promises to be much crazier in his future endeavors.
